[Dharma Talk] Dr Sumana: Learn the Sacred Language of the Buddha through Pali Chanting

Join us for selected Pāli chanting sessions to discover the meaning and beauty of the Buddha’s words as preserved in the Pāli Canon, learn their correct pronunciation, and chant with understanding rather than simply listen. No previous knowledge of Pāli is required.
Programme Highlights:
Participate in carefully selected Pāli chanting traditionally used for:
(i) Blessing ceremonies,
(ii) Funeral and memorial services,
(iii) Protective (Paritta) chanting, and
(iv) Daily devotional practice.
Learn the meaning and background of the discourses being chanted.
Develop correct pronunciation of Pāli words and verses.
Understand the significance of the chants within the Theravāda Buddhist tradition.
Discover how these ancient discourses relate to contemporary Buddhist practice and daily life.
Facilitator:
Dr. Sumana Ratnayaka
A retired Senior Lecturer in the Department of Pāli and Buddhist Studies at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. With extensive experience in teaching Pāli, Buddhist Studies, and Buddhist Psychology, he combines accurate pronunciation with clear explanations and practical understanding, enabling participants to chant Pāli with confidence and understanding.
