To build a caring and supportive community of Dharma friends at SPT, drawing on the collective strength of the community to encourage growth in the Dharma, enhance quality of life, and create a Pure Land on earth.
1. Attract the public to learn Buddhism through hymn sharing, Dharma sharing, and fellowship.
2. Foster spiritual friendships to create good community support.
3. Instill interest among the community to further their Dharma learning and service.
2022.07 – SPT collaborated with the Buddhist band group, Plan B 计划, to organise monthly Kalyanamitra Gatherings for the Sunday Dharma School teachers for fellowship and Dharma enrichment. The gatherings also welcomed friends invited by the participants. Each gathering hosted around 10 to 15 participants.
2025.03 – SPT set up a music room and purchased band equipment.
2025.04 – The Kalyanamitra Gatherings started presenting Buddhist hymns through a live band method, delivering a richer musical experience compared to the earlier guitar-and-vocal method.
2025.07 – SPT organised a launch for Kalyanamitra Dharma Assembly, officially opening up the programme to the public and expanding the venue to accommodate more participants. The launch was attended by about 70 participants. The former English name of “Kalyanamitra Gathering” was also changed to “Kalyanamitra Dharma Assembly” as proposed by the abbess, Venerable Sing Kan, reflecting the aspiration to bring about a deeper and more far-reaching impact.
