SPT Edu Care

The roots of SPT Edu Care Centre can be traced back to the early development of Buddhist education within Sam Poh Thong Temple.

In 1973, under the leadership of the Second Abbess, Venerable Da Yin, the temple established its first Children’s Sunday Dharma Class, marking the beginning of structured Buddhist education within the temple. Although the programme was discontinued in 1976 due to limited manpower, it planted an important seed for future educational development.

Decades later, under the leadership of the Fourth Abbess, Venerable Sing Kan, Buddhist education was revitalised with renewed emphasis and direction. The Sunday Dharma Class was restarted and gradually expanded beyond children’s learning to include youth, young adults, and adult Dharma education, along with English classes and co-curricular activities.

As participation grew steadily across different age groups, the temple’s educational work evolved into a more structured system, supporting lifelong learning within the Buddhist framework — from children’s moral education to youth development, young adult engagement, and adult Dharma study.

With the continuous expansion of programmes and responsibilities, SPT Edu Care Centre was eventually established to systematically coordinate and develop the temple’s educational initiatives.

Today, SPT Edu Care Centre continues this growing legacy, nurturing wisdom seeds across generations through integrated Buddhist education, experiential learning, and community-based engagement for children, teenagers, young adults, and adults.
